Dégagé Dollars

Dégagé Dollars

Dignity is a value that is core to Dégagé’s mission and evident in all our services. We believe this distinguishes us from other organizations.

As an example, meals are provided at a low-cost. Much like a restaurant, patrons order what food they would like and it is brought to them at their table. Constantly relying on free meals and having nothing to offer in return lowers self-worth and fosters dependency.

Thus, Degage patrons have the opportunity to perform 40 routine custodial jobs throughout our facility each day. They are paid in bus tickets or vouchers which can be used for meals or any service at Degage. Jobs take approximately 15-20 minutes and can be done by people of any skill level. The program also encourages the community members to take pride and ownership in the maintenance of our facility.
