The Housing Office

The Housing office at Dégagé Ministries has staff and volunteers available to help individuals who are struggling with a variety of housing needs. Though we do not have any financial assistance available, our staff works to make connections for those looking for assistance, whether it is connecting individuals to other area agencies, or helping to contact local landlords and housing properties. Our goal is to come alongside individuals in a housing crisis, and support each person through the steps of attaining permanent housing.

The Housing office provides computers and phones to assist with housing searches and communication, and knowledgeable staff who can make educated referrals and suggestions. As this program grows, we hope to provide even more services to those struggling with housing. At this time, however, we do not have funding available to offer financial assistance with deposits, rent, or utility payments.

Dégagé Ministries is devoted to working alongside the Housing Assessment Program (HAP) at Salvation Army in order to have a clear, centralized intake system in our community. Any individual seeking housing must first go through a HAP assessment before coming to our program. HAP may refer you to a number of useful resources in the community or back to us depending on your needs. Representatives from HAP are available in our neighborhood throughout the week. On Mondays and Wednesdays, they can be found at Guiding Light Mission from 9:00 – 11:30 AM. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, they can be found at Heartside Ministry from 9:00 – 11:30 AM. For more information, you may call HAP at (616) 454-5840.

The Housing office at Dégagé Ministries is open 8:00AM-11:30PM and 1:00-3:00PM, Tuesday and Wednesday. It is located on our 2nd floor and may be accessed through our side door on Cherry St.
