Current Volunteer Opportunities for Individuals

MONDAY EVENING DINNER SERVERS

Individuals are needed to serve dinner on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th Monday evenings of each month. The time commitment is from 6:00 till 8:00pm.

MORNING KITCHEN VOLUNTEER

A low-cost breakfast is served in Degage's dining room each morning. Volunteers assist by preparing the food, running the cash register, and serving the food. The time commitment for this volunteer position is from 8:30-10:30 a.m.

HYGIENE DESK VOLUNTEER

The hygiene desk volunteer works with the Life Enrichment Center Floor Supervisor to assist patrons utilizing our showers, laundry facilities, mail delivery, and lockers. Volunteers in this position will have close interaction with the patrons. Volunteers are needed from 8:00-11:30 a.m. and 1:00-3:00 p.m. on weekdays.

ID OFFICE VOLUNTEER

Volunteers are needed to assist patrons who are seeking help in securing birth certificates and State of Michigan ID cards. A commitment of one morning a week is preferred. This office is open Monday through Thursday mornings.

HOUSING OFFICE VOLUNTEER

Volunteers are needed to assist patrons in filling out forms and using the computer as they seek access to housing. The Housing Office is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays during the day.

WOMENS' SHELTER ASSISTANTS

Caring women are needed to help in the Open Door in the evenings from 7:00-9:00pm.

PHONE RECEPTIONIST

A friendly volunteer is needed to answer the phones on weekdays throughout the summer of 2012.
