Press Release: Veterans Dinner
As we celebrate Veteran this week, we remember the many soldiers that have courageously fought for the cause of freedom throughout our nation’s history. The Heartside neighborhood, home to many of the city’s homeless and poverty-stricken, is also the home of over 100 veterans-- our very own heroes deserving of honor and respect.
This evening, Thursday, November 12th, Dégagé Ministries will hold its 10th annual Dégagé Honors Heartside Veterans celebration. This is a dinner that we provide to neighborhood veterans to thank them for their service to our country. We also encourage our volunteers to join in the celebration as a way to publicly recognize the efforts of these Vets, many of whom still carry the scars, visible and hidden, that they brought home. The evening will include music from the Tri-Faith Band, dinner, a brief speech from Minister Clyde Sims, and a pinning ceremony to honor the Veterans. The event will be held downtown at
